The Midwives Mobilization & Redeployment Scheme (MMRS)
MMRS is the national digital workforce infrastructure operated by the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria — mobilising licensed nurses and midwives to high-need communities to strengthen skilled attendance at birth and reduce maternal and newborn mortality across all 36 states and the FCT.
MMRS strengthens and develops the Nigerian midwifery workforce throughout every stage of a professional's career — from registration in the national Workforce Registry, through Programme participation, to long-term career development and employment. Programmes such as the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) operate under MMRS, recruiting, training and deploying professionals toward a national target of 10,000+ midwife deployments by 2029.
